Google’s Mobile First update means that your search engine rankings are going to be based first on the mobile version of your site, and there is good reason for this and many reasons it will benefit local businesses who stay ahead of the game. Most foot traffic is based on a mobile search, so – your location, your services, your contact information and an easy to navigate mobile-friendly website are going to be the first way clients or customers find you and your business.

While there are many steps to making sure your website is front-and-center in terms of mobile searches, the main items are these:

#1 – If you aren’t mobile-friendly and responsive, get there now.
#2 – If you don’t know what AMP is, you need to apply this to certain pages on your website
#3 – If you aren’t set up on Google business and don’t have your address, phone number and other contact info front and center on your site, you are losing business.
#4 – Optimization for Mobile will impact what you need to focus on with the desktop version of your website.
